What is included in a snowmobile trip, and what can you add?

Every trip includes:

  • a two-seater snowmobile,
  • fuel,
  • a snowmobile briefing before departure,
  • an experienced guide throughout the trail,
  • a protective helmet for every participant.

The 3-hour option also includes a campfire, a hot meal and hot drinks. Free parking is available at our base on Gubałówka.

You can optionally add on site:

  • a winter suit,
  • extended insurance reducing the driver's liability for equipment damage caused by the driver,
  • a balaclava and gloves.

It can be freezing and windy on a snowmobile, so dress in layers: thermal underwear, a fleece, thick socks and winter shoes. A balaclava under the helmet and gloves make a real difference, especially on longer trips.

Which snowmobile tour option should you choose?

Every snowmobile trip follows winter mountain trails around Zakopane. Your choice depends on whether this is your first ride, how much time you want to spend outdoors and whether you value adrenaline or views more.

Your first snowmobile ride – 1 hour

The best starting option and a good choice for people looking for a short ride during a busy day in Zakopane. Around 12 km is enough to learn how the snowmobile behaves, gain confidence at the controls and stop for photos with a panorama of the Tatras. See the 1-hour trip details.

More views – 2 hours

Two hours means more forests, clearings and hills, and after the first kilometres the ride becomes smoother and even more enjoyable. We stop at the best viewpoint of the Tatras. It is a good option for combining a little adrenaline with beautiful scenery. See the 2-hour trip details.

A true winter adventure – 3 hours with a campfire

The longest snowmobile trip in our offer. After riding through snowy trails, you finish with a campfire, hot food and hot drinks. This is the option for anyone wanting the full winter experience. See the 3-hour trip details.

Travelling as a pair?

All our snowmobiles are two-seaters. During breaks every 20–30 minutes, the driver and passenger can swap places if both have driving licences. This way both people can drive and both get time to enjoy the scenery.

If you are still unsure, call 536 274 259 and we will help you choose a trip that matches your expectations.

What does a snowmobile trip look like step by step?

Every trip starts and ends at our base on Gubałówka. Before riding, the instructor explains how to use the snowmobile, and then the group follows the guide along designated trails.

  1. Arrive at the base. Please arrive 20 minutes before departure at 40 Zubka Street. You can leave your car in the free car park next to the base.
  2. Briefing. The instructor explains how to start, brake and turn, and how to ride safely in a group. Every participant receives a helmet; suits, balaclavas and gloves are available to buy on site.
  3. Follow the guide. The group rides off-road trails near Kościelisko, Dzianisz and Butorowy Wierch. The guide sets the pace, looks after everyone's safety and reacts if anything goes wrong.
  4. Breaks every 20–30 minutes. This is time to catch your breath and swap driver and passenger.
  5. Photo stop. Halfway through the route we stop at a viewpoint of the Tatras – the best moment for a souvenir photo.
  6. Campfire (3-hour option only). At the end of the trip, warm up by the fire with a hot meal and drink.
  7. Return to Gubałówka. We return to the base and hand back the equipment.

Most of our customers ride a snowmobile for the first time. A short briefing and a calm pace behind the guide are enough to feel confident after just a few minutes.

Snowmobile trails – where do we ride and what can you see?

Our snowmobile trips follow off-road trails in Podhale, near Kościelisko, Dzianisz and Butorowy Wierch. We start on Gubałówka, so the route opens up views of the Tatras from the first minutes.

Along the way we pass snowy forests, open clearings and gentle hills with amazing views across the mountain range. This is a typical winter Podhale landscape: wooden buildings, snow-covered fields and the Tatras in the background, clearly visible in good weather.

The character of the route depends on your chosen option:

  • 1 hour – about 12 km on the trails closest to the base, with one viewpoint stop,
  • 2 hours – a longer loop through forests, clearings and hills, with a stop at the best viewpoint of the Tatras,
  • 3 hours – the longest trip, ending with a campfire and hot food.

Where can you ride a snowmobile near Zakopane?

Snowmobiles cannot be ridden everywhere – the trails in Tatra National Park are closed to motor vehicles. We therefore use only designated legal trails outside the park, which our guides know in all conditions. This keeps the ride safe and legal, while the views of the Tatras can be even better than from inside the mountains.

Who can drive a snowmobile and who rides as a passenger?

To drive a snowmobile, you need a driving licence. The person riding behind you on the same snowmobile does not need one, but then travels only as a passenger for the whole trip.

For example, if only one person in a pair has a licence, that person drives and the other rides as a passenger. You can join the trip together without any problem – what matters is who is behind the controls.

Do you need experience for a snowmobile trip?

No. Most of our customers have never driven a snowmobile before. The instructor explains everything carefully before departure, and on the trail the group follows the guide at a calm pace on reliable equipment. Many people say after getting off that it was easier than expected and that the memories stay with them for a long time.

Snowmobiles with children

Children can ride as passengers next to an adult driver. The guide adapts the pace to the whole group, making this a good winter attraction for families too.

We wrote more about the rules for people joining their first trip in our guide Quads in Zakopane for beginners. The principles described there also apply whether we are talking about snowmobiles, quads or buggies.

Do not miss this winter during your stay in Zakopane – book your trip now! We guarantee a great time in the mountains with your loved ones.

Snowmobile trips for groups – team events and winter outings

We also organise snowmobile trips for larger groups: companies, friends, families and participants in team trips. Riding together behind a guide through winter Podhale combines adrenaline, views and a good atmosphere; the campfire option works especially well as the highlight of a winter event.

We arrange the date, number of snowmobiles and itinerary individually to match your expectations. Contact us or call 536 274 259 and we will prepare a proposal.

Where is the base and how do you get there from central Zakopane?

All trips start and finish at our base at 40 Zubka Street, Gubałówka, 34-500 Zakopane. The base is on the western side of Gubałówka, towards Butorowy Wierch.

There are two ways to get there:

  • By PKL railway from central Zakopane – from the upper station on Gubałówka, walk about 1,200 m west towards Butorowy Wierch. It is a short walk with a view of the Tatras.
  • By car through Kościelisko – drive from central Zakopane to Kościelisko along Nędzy Kubińca Street, then turn into Salamandra Street and drive about 2 km uphill to the top of Gubałówka. Free parking is available at our base.

In winter, allow extra time for the journey, especially during school holidays and weekends, when Zakopane is busiest.

When should you book a snowmobile? Season and dates

The snowmobile season in Zakopane usually runs from December to March, but the exact start and end depend on the weather. We ride when there is enough snow in the mountains, so the season start changes from year to year.

What if there is no snow?

Your booking is not lost. If there are not enough conditions for a snowmobile trip on the day, we replace the vehicle with a quad or buggy and the trip still takes place. You can therefore book ahead without worrying whether the snow will arrive.

When is the peak snowmobile season in Zakopane?

Demand is highest around Christmas and New Year, during winter holidays and on January and February weekends – the best dates disappear fastest then. That is why it is worth booking online in advance:

  • online tickets cost less than tickets bought at the desk,
  • a booking guarantees the date and start time,
  • you do not need to queue at the desk – simply show your ticket on arrival.
